What is the difference between 16MnDR and Q345R
Both 16MnDR and Q345R belong to the national standard container plate. Generally speaking, 16MnDR and Q345R are named according to the purpose of the steel plate. "R" stands for container, and "DR" stands for cryogenic container, both of which are used on pressure vessels. 16MnDR and Q345R have been widely recognized by customers because of their unique excellent performance, so what is the difference between 16MnDR and Q345R? Below I will summarize from the following aspects.
① 16MnDR has higher requirements on the delivery status, and the minimum delivery status is normalized, while Q345R is relatively broad, and there is no specific required delivery status, but the delivery status of Q345R will gradually become normalized as the thickness increases;
② Under the standard, Q345R can be thinner than 16MnDR, and within the limit thickness range, the yield value and tensile value of Q345R are higher than 16MnDR;
③The low-temperature impact test temperature specified by Q345R is 0°C, but it can also be tested at -20°C instead of 0°C, and the impact test of 16MnDR has a certain relationship with the thickness >60mm, the impact temperature is -30°C; it can be seen that the impact temperature of 16MnDR is lower than that required by Q345R, and the impact energy value is also required to be higher.
④Q345R can be used for high temperature tensile test, please refer to the standard for the temperature and tensile value of the specific tensile test, and 16MnDR is a low temperature steel, so there is no specific requirement for high temperature tensile test.
