The difference between Q235B steel and Q245R steel

Q235B steel is ordinary carbon steel, and Q245R steel is alloy container steel, Both are steel grades named after the yield strength value.The yield strength of Q235B steel is ≤235Mpa, and the yield strength of Q245R steel is ≤245Mpa, from the perspective of tensile strength, Q245R steel has higher strength.

Q235B steel has low carbon content, low hardness, low price, good toughness, good welding performance, and it can be folded and stamped. Q235B steel is used for ordinary steel structural parts, maintaining chemical composition and mechanical properties, and can be used for normal temperature impact.

The previous standard of Q245R steel was 20R (pressure vessel steel) or 20G (boiler steel). "R" means container in Chinese, which is a professional pressure vessel steel. Q235B steel is the former A3 steel, which is an ordinary carbon structural steel, "B" represents the quality grade, and the toughness index at a temperature of 20° needs to be considered. Q235B steel is a soft material with carbon content of ≤0.2%. It has low hardness, good deformation and processing performance.
