SS400 steel plate yield and tensile strength

SS400 steel is often rolled into wire rod or round steel, square steel, flat steel, angle steel, I-beam, channel steel and other steel, medium and thick steel plate. SS400 steel is used in many architectural and engineering structures. It is used to make steel bars or to make factory buildings, high voltage transmission towers, bridges, vehicles, boilers, containers, ships, etc., but also to make mechanical parts that do not require high performance.

SS400 steel plate chemical composition: P: 0.050 or lower, S: 0.050 or lower.

Min. Yield strength of SS400 steel plate: 245 or higher (t≤16mm), 235 or higher (16mm<t≤40mm), 215 or higher (t>40mm).
SS400 steel plate tensile strength: 400-510 Mpa

SS400 steel specimen tensile: During the tensile process, the SS400 specimen enters the strengthening stage after the yield stage, and the cross-sectional standard is significantly reduced. The greater force to damage (Fb) divided by the original cross-section of the specimen. The stress (σ) obtained from the area (So) is called the tensile strength or strength limit (σb), and the unit is N/mm 2 (MPa). It represents the greater ability of the metal material to resist damage under tensile force. When yielding to a certain extent, the resistance to deformation increases again because of the rearrangement of the internal particles. At this moment, although the deformation is active, it can only be increased as the stress increases until the stress reaches a larger value. Since then, the ability of the steel to resist deformation has decreased significantly, and the larger portion of the specimen at the lesser defect is less active, and the necking phenomenon occurs until the crack is damaged. The maximum stress value of the steel before it is subjected to tensile cracking is called the ultimate strength or tensile strength.
