Introduction to C45 high quality carbon structural steel

C45 steel is a high-quality carbon structural steel, which is widely used in machinery manufacturing. The mechanical properties of C45 steel are very good, and the price is relatively cheap.

C45 carbon structural steel is called in DIN standard and 45 steel in national standard. It is called S45C in JIS standard and 1045 in ASTM standard.

C45 (1.0503) is a medium carbon high-quality steel with high strength. Due to poor hardenability, it is generally used in the normalized state. When the mechanical property requirements are high, the quenching and tempering treatment is adopted. The cold deformation plasticity is medium, and the machinability of annealed and normalized is better than that of quenched and tempered. C45 carbon structural steel is used to manufacture parts with high strength requirements, such as gears, shafts, piston pins, and machined parts, forgings, stampings, bolts, nuts, and pipe fittings with low stress.

Delivery status of C45 carbon structural steel:
Delivery shall be made in the condition of no heat treatment or heat treatment (annealing, normalizing or high temperature tempering). If delivery is required in heat treatment state, it shall be indicated in the contract, otherwise, it shall be delivered without heat treatment.
