Differences between SA516 Gr65 (HIC) and SA516 Gr65 (R-HIC) steel plates
SA516 Gr65 (HIC) refers to the steel grade SA516 Gr65. Only hydrogen induced cracking test (HIC) is conducted for corrosion test. The composition requires smelting analysis P ≤ 0.015%, S ≤ 0.003%, finished product analysis P ≤ 0.015%, S ≤ 0.004%. HIC series steel usually uses solution B, if the user requires solution A, it shall be noted in the contract.
SA516 Gr65 (R-HIC) refers to the steel grade SA516 Gr65. A solution hydrogen induced cracking test (HIC) and sulfide stress corrosion test (SSCC) shall be conducted for the corrosion test. The composition shall be melting analysis P ≤ 0.015%, S ≤ 0.003%, finished product analysis P ≤ 0.015%, S ≤ 0.004%. R-HIC series steel shall adopt A solution and conduct SSCC test.
