Cr and Ni in 05CuPCrNi steel
The influence of Cu and P elements on 05CuPCrNi steel is explained in the previous article, this article briefly describes the effects of Cr and Ni Elements on 05CuPCrNi steel.
Cr is one of the alloying elements to improve the atmospheric corrosion resistance of 05CuPCrNi steel, but generally the effect is obvious only with the combination of Cu element. Cr has a low corrosion potential and is an element with a tendency to passivation. It promotes the formation of a dense oxidized passivation film on the surface of 05CuPCrNi steel in the atmosphere, thereby improving the corrosion resistance of 05CuPCrNi steel. During the atmospheric corrosion process, the Cr content is controlled at 0.30%-0.45%.
Ni is also one of the effective alloying elements for atmospheric corrosion resistance. When the Ni content is less than or equal to 1%, while 05CuPCrNi steel contains Cu, the effect of improving corrosion resistance is not obvious. However, the alloy phase can be formed when the content ratio of Ni and Cu is 1:3, so, the Ni content is controlled to be greater than 0.1% for 05CuPCrNi steel with containing 0.3% Cu can prevent cracks during hot rolling.
