Characteristics and heat treatment of 20Mn steel

20Mn steel is a high-quality carbon structural steel. Implement GB/T 699 standard.
20Mn steel is a high manganese low carbon penetration steel, with properties similar to 15Mn steel, 20Mn strength and hardenability slightly higher than 15Mn steel, and other properties similar to 15Mn steel. The application is basically the same as 15Mn.

20Mn steel is a low carbon carburizing steel with high manganese content (0.70% - 1.00%). Because of its high manganese content, its strength, plasticity, machinability and hardenability are slightly higher than those of 15Mn steel. There are fewer soft spots formed on the surface during carburizing and quenching. Therefore, carburizing and carbonitriding should be carried out to obtain a comprehensive property of wear-resisting surface and good toughness at the core. 20Mn steel has good toughness after hot rolling or normalizing treatment.

20Mn steel heat treatment specification: normalizing, 910 ℃.
20Mn steel shall be delivered without heat treatment or heat treatment (annealing, normalizing or high temperature tempering). If delivery is required in heat treatment state, it shall be indicated in the contract, otherwise, it shall be delivered without heat treatment.
