Causes of corrosion of 316L stainless steel
Although 316L stainless steel has natural oxidation resistance, it is also resistant to corrosion in environments containing acids, alkalis, and salts. However, the corrosion resistance of 316L stainless steel varies with its own chemical composition, mutual status, use conditions and environmental media types.
1. The surface of the stainless steel plate is attached with foreign objects such as dust or metal particles of other metal elements. When exposed to moisture, these foreign objects will be connected with the condensed water on the 316L stainless steel to form a micro battery, which will produce an electrochemical reaction and damage the surface of the stainless steel plate. This is the electrochemical corrosion of 316L stainless steel.
2. There are organic juices (such as soup, juice, etc.) on the surface of the stainless steel plate. When encountering a scene with water and oxygen, organic acids will be formed. Over time, these organic acids will corrode the surface of 316L stainless steel.
3. There are some acid, alkali, salt liquid substances (such as lime water, alkaline water, etc.) on the surface of 316L stainless steel plate, which will cause local corrosion of the surface of the stainless steel plate.
The above scenes will cause corrosion of the 316L stainless steel plate surface.
