American standard SA516 Grade 60 steel plate for medium temperature pressure vessels
SA516 Grade 60 is a carbon steel plate for medium and low temperature pressure vessels, which complies with ASME standards. It is widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical industry, power plants, boilers, and other industries. It is used to manufacture equipment and components such as reactors, heat exchangers, separators, spherical tanks, gas tanks, liquefied gas tanks, nuclear reactor pressure shells, boiler drums, liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, high-pressure water pipes in hydropower stations, and turbine casings.
SA516 steel plate heat treatment:
(1) Steel plates with a thickness of 1.50 in. (40 mm) or less are typically supplied as rolled. Normalized or stress relieved steel plates can be ordered.
(2) Steel plates with a thickness greater than 1.5 in. (40 mm) must be normalized.
Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, when notch toughness testing is required for steel plates with a plate thickness less than or equal to 1.5 in. (40 mm), the steel plate shall be subjected to normalizing treatment.
(3)If agreed by the demander, it is allowed to use a speed greater than that of cooling in air to improve toughness, but the steel plate should subsequently be tempered within the range of 1100 to 1300 ℉ (595 to 705 ℃).
Smelting process of SA516 Grade 60 steel plate:
The steel shall be killed steel and meet the requirements of A20/A20M standard for fine austenitic grain size.
