American standard SA516 Gr485 vessel plate

SA516 Gr485 vessel plate belongs to carbon steel plate for medium and low temperature pressure vessels.

Delivery status of SA516 Gr485 vessel plate:
SA516 Gr485 steel plate with thickness ≤40mm is usually supplied in rolling condition. The steel plate can also be normalized or stress relieved, or normalized and stress relieved.
SA516 Gr485 steel plate with thickness >40mm shall be normalized.

Unless otherwise agreed by the demander, SA516 Gr485 steel plates with thickness ≤40mm shall be normalized when required for notch resistance, and can be delivered under the conditions of normalizing, tempering, HIC (hydrogen resistance), quenching and tempering according to customer requirements.

If approved by the demander, it is allowed to adopt a cooling rate greater than that in the air to improve the resistance, but the steel plate shall be tempered in the range of 1100-1300 °F (595-705 ℃) later.

SA516 Gr485 steel plate is killed steel, which meets the requirements of fine austenite grain size (No. 5 or above).

SA516 Gr485 and SA516 GR70 are the same material. SA516 GR70 is expressed in English system and SA516 Gr485 is expressed in metric system. Minimum strength limit: 70ksi [485 MPa], maximum thickness: 205 mm, equivalent to China GB713 Q345R.

C: 0.28, Mn: 0.85-1.20, P: 0.035, S: 0.035, Si: 0.15-0.40

Application of SA516 Gr485 steel plate: it is widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, power station, boiler and other industries, and is used to make reactors, heat exchangers, separators, spherical tanks, oil and gas tanks, liquefied gas tanks, nuclear reactor pressure shells, boiler drums, liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, high-pressure water pipes of hydropower stations, turbine spiral cases and other equipment and components.
