Advantages of lowering hot rolling temperature on S500MC steel
Due to the sensitivity of S500MC steel to high temperature, what is the advantage of lowering the rolling temperature for S500MC steel during hot rolling?
(1)Reducing the hot rolling temperature can significantly increase the elongation and area reduction of S500MC steel, and reduce the yield strength, while the tensile strength of S500MC steel is only slightly reduced.
(2)The metallographic microstructure shows that reducing the rolling temperature can reduce the reticular ferrite and massive ferrite, and is beneficial to the homogenization of the ferrite and pearlite structures of S500MC steel.
(3)The fracture morphology shows that reducing the rolling temperature can increase the tear ribs and dimples, thereby homogenizing the fracture zone and improving the toughness of S500MC steel.
(4) The displacement of ferrite growing into the crystal is related to the austenite transformation temperature and transformation time. Lowering the rolling temperature can refine the ferrite structure of S500MC steel.
