Advantages of 9Mn2V die steel
9Mn2V steel is a Cr-free cold work die steel. Its Mn mass fraction is as high as 1.70%-2.0%. The alloying element Mn improves the hardenability of the steel and enhances the toughness, strength, wear resistance and hardness of the steel. The alloying element V refines the grains in the steel, reduces the overheating sensitivity of the steel, and enables the carbides in the steel to be evenly distributed and small, improving the strength and toughness of the steel. In addition, V element and carbon form carbide, which can improve the resistance to hydrogen corrosion under high temperature and high pressure.
Compared with carbon tool steel, 9Mn2V die steel has higher hardness and wear resistance, good hardenability, and less deformation during quenching. Because the 9Mn2V die steel contains a certain amount of vanadium, the grains are refined and the overheating sensitivity is reduced. 9Mn2V die steel can be quenched in quenching medium with moderate cooling capacity such as nitrate and hot oil.
