Influence of Endogenous Inclusions on SS400 Steel

Non-metallic inclusions exist in SS400 steel as an independent phase, which destroys the continuity of the steel matrix, increases the inhomogeneity of the SS400 steel structure , and seriously affects its various properties. The source of non-metallic inclusions in SS400 steel mainly consists of two parts: internal inclusions and external inclusions. The inclusions written in this article mainly refer to the internal inclusions ,which formed by the deoxidation products in the SS400 steel.

Although there are not many non-metallic inclusions in SS400 steel, their influence on performance cannot be ignored. The impact of inclusions on the mechanical and process properties of SS400 steel is mainly to reduce the plasticity, toughness and fatigue properties of the material, especially when the inclusions exist in unfavorable shape and distribution characteristics, the impact on the mechanical properties of the material is more serious. The harm of non-metallic inclusions in SS400 steel is that it destroys the uniformity of the steel matrix, causes stress and the middle part, promotes the generation of fatigue cracks, and accelerates the expansion of cracks under certain conditions, thereby accelerating the process of fatigue damage.
