The principle of Corten B weathering steel

After adding phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel and other trace elements to the Corten B steel, the surface of the steel will form a dense and highly adhesive protective film, which prevents the corrosion from spreading and developing inwards, and protects the matrix under the rust layer to slow down the rust corrosion rate.

The amorphous spinel oxide layer with a thickness about 50 μm to 100 μm formed between the rust layer and the substrate, which is dense and has good adhesion to the substrate metal. Because the existence of this layer of fine oxide film, it prevents the oxygen and water in the atmosphere from entering the steel substrate. Thereby slowing down the corrosion to the inside of Corten B steel, greatly improving the atmospheric corrosion resistance of Corten B steel.

Corten B steel is an upgraded product, and it is also a steel series that can be integrated into new mechanisms of modern metallurgical, new technologies, and new processes to make it continue to develop and innovate.
