The steel oxidises with pollutants in the air forming a thick layer of rust – this formation acts as a protective layer which prevents the steel from corroding. The layer constantly regenerates and forms over time.

Under the standard EN10028_3, P275N steelshall be both under Normalized delivery condition when processing . These steel grade P275N steel mainly used in pressure vessels and boilers differ from other carbon manganese structural steel plates owning to its high resistance to pressure at all temperatures when usage.
